The small village of Achenkirch is located on the north side of the Achensee. The village is beautifully embedded between the lake and mountains. A family atmosphere, a wide range of hiking and mountain biking opportunities in the Karwendel, with some 730 square miles the largest protected nature area in Europe.
Mountain Sports
Because of the location of the village hikers and mountain bikers benefit both from the lake and the surrounding mountains. Therefor there are many hiking and mountain biking trails. Other mountain sports are offered near the Achensee, such as paragliding.
Water Sports
The beachpool is a great opportunity to enjoy the water. A well maintained grass beach with a playground. Other water sports are virtually all possible, such as surfing, kite surfing and sailing. Also sailing and surfing courses are offered, and the village has its own yacht club and marina.
Recommendation
Heimatmuseum Sixenhof is located in a building from 1361. The museum shows how the region has traditionally lived and worked. In 21 rooms spread over 3 floors, various components are displayed, such as a blacksmith, a shoemaker and a weaver.
