Münichreith-Laimbach has a saga about a big fish that lives in the mountain.
The double-municipality MünichreithLaimbach is located in the southern part of the Waldviertel, at the feet of the Ostrong.

Both villages are warm, cozy, and located in the green and juicy Weitental.

Characteristic are surely the surrounding mountains. So originate here numerous springs and streams that flow through the green valley towards the Danube.

Nice is the old Sage, that the inside of the Ostrong is hollow and filled with a large lake. In this lake, a giant fish lives, which for centuries is trying to come out of the mountain.

Older residents of the village, ward, therefore, that they hear thunder in the mountain, because the fish tries with its tail to get out of the mountain.

Mountain Sports
Around the village you can go hiking on beautiful trails. But, there are also opportunities to discover nature on horseback.

Water Sports
In the region fishermen can go fishing in beautiful waters, on fish as Carp or Brook Trout. Swimming is possible in various indoor and outdoor pools, and a few beautiful lakes.
