Griffen is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The municipality consists of 35 small villages and provides a large number of possible hiking routes over hill and valley. For example a tour to the Griffner Schlossberg, a protected area that you can admire the best from the magnificent panoramaweg. Culture is also offered here, as in the former convent.
Mountain Sports
Stroll along one of the lakes or make a hiking tour with a dreamview. Cycling through the valley, or mountain bike on an uphill trail. Even sports such as paragliding or horse riding, mountain climbing or golf on the beautiful golf course in St. Kazian are offered.
Water Sports
Watersports is offered here in all parts of the region. With the Klopeiner See, the Turnersee, the Kleinsee, the Pirkdorfer See, the Gösselsdorfer See, the Sonnegger See and the Linsendorfer See, the region has the warmest lakes in Austria. Almost anything is possible on and around the lakes, both active and passive. You can swim in the local swimming pool, that further offers a beach volleyball court, table tennis and a pool for children.
Recommendation
In the limestone of the Griffner Schloßberg you find Austria's most colorful cave. Stalactites and stalagmites were created for millions of years. The remains of two fireplaces, parts of appliances and extinct animals such as Mammoth and Cave bear are partially presented in showcases.
