Welcome to Hohenems
Hohenems is located at the foot of the Schlossberg in the heart of the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley. A real piece of history, with the only Renaissance palace in the wide area, a unique Jewish Quarter, the Jewish Museum and various cultural festivals. The quality of life here is very high and the unspoiled landscape offers a lot of recreational opportunities.
Mountain Sports
A perfect area for short and long hikes. Along the lake, through the villages and towns, or challenging mountain hikes. For mountain biking and cycling a region that has to offer beautiful routes. And especially if you go across the border, around the lake on a cycle or mountain bike.
Water Sports
A good opportunity for fishing offers the Alten Rhein (Old Rhine). Fishing licenses (day tickets and weekly tickets) are available at the kiosk at the station. Erholungszentrum Rheinauen. With 13 hectares the largest outdoor pool in Vorarlberg. A large green area, the old Rhine, swimming pools and sports fields, are annually attracting between 110,000 and 230,000 visitors.
Recommendation
The remains of the once great castle above Hohenems. At 740 meters altitude, 300 meters above the Rhine valley, you'll find the remains of one of the largest castles in Central Europe, with a length of 800 meters and a width of 85 meters. Seven towers and a bridge. In the courtyard the Konrads well is still visible .
