In Virgen you come as a guest and go as a friend. The village lies west of Matrei in a beautiful valley, the village is made up by Mitteldorf, Mellitz, Göriach, Welzelach, Obermauern and Niedermauern. These smaller villages all are situated around the center. A quiet area, almost Southern, which is very suitable to enjoy the summer and the beautiful nature.

Mountain Sports
The region around Virgen in Osttirol is a beautiful area for hiking with marked and unmarked trails for the whole family. For mountain bikers there are several possible routes and trails and the other valleys in Osttirol are easily accessible. Osttirol is an excellent area for paragliding and the possibilities are therefore high.

Water Sports
The Freizeitarena offers a large swimming pool which is heated entirely by solar energy. The pool also has a 45 meter long slide, a 3 meter high platform, a children's playground and a large lawn. Rafting and kayaking are offered at various locations.

One of the most attractive exhibition spaces in Matrei in Osttirol. The exhibition is divided over two floors and natural and cultural particularities of Osttirol and its valleys. An absolute must if you want to sniff a piece of culture.
