Scharnitz is the gateway to Tirol, the gateway to the Olympiaregion Seefeld and the gateway to the Karwendel. A beautiful little village on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol. The village lies near the nature resort Alpine Park Karwendel, where you not only in summer but also in the winter can experience nature up close.
Mountain Sports
A real area for outdoor sports. And not only the Olympic winter sports. Perfect hiking trails, and trails for mountain bikers who are quite unique. Climbing enthusiasts can visit the local climbing garden, with several climbing options directly on the rocks at the football fields.
Water Sports
The Olympia Sport- und Kongresszentrum in Seefeld offers an indoor water landscape with children and baby section, wild water stream of 140 meters length, a separate outdoor area with playground, and a beautiful saunaland. Other possibilities in the region to enjoy the water are at Erlebniswelt Alpenbad Leutasch and the Wildsee, where you can enjoy swimming and BBQ.
Recommendation
Porta Claudia. Near the former Austrian customs post in Scharnitz lies the ruins of the fortress "Porta Claudia. The fortress was personally presented at the opening its name from the hand of Claudia de Medici.
Isarursprung. On the way to the mouth of the Danube the Isar is growing to the main river in Bavaria. In ancient times, high water caused fear and trembling, but also for luck and blessings for villages and towns that lie on the shore. The Isar is today a part of the culture and history of the alpine region.
